Valentine

I first became acquainted with the name Valentine when, as a child, I started reading Ender's Game. Because of this, my associations with that word are: gentle, kind, protective, loyal, and intelligent. Valentine knew how to love.

Love can be romantic but it isn't always romantic. I've never enjoyed sappy shows of love or cheesy sentiments so Valentine's Day has never been a big deal. My husband feels the same. He and I might share funny Valentine's memes we've found on the internet though. The following is my favorite:

I do like the romance in Austen's books but I love the social commentary and witticism more. Being into Jane Austen adaptations was never on my list of requirements for a husband so I certainly did luck out. He recognizes and appreciates Austen's brilliance as much as I do. He's watched and rewatched every adaptation I have and loves them all.
